noob inquiry: I recently bought an mc21, I thought it was an SE because of the dry clutch. But, I can't see a reservoir for the rear shock which I assumed all SE/SPs had. Am I missin something?
If it is an original SE/SP model should have a reservoir... Check also if your front suspension has adjustable rebound option or not... This will help you also to see if the bike is an R model or a SE/SP model.... Also check your frame number to see what year and model is your bike...
It may be an SE / SP which has an aftermarket shock fitted... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Why not? Dry clutches are cool and I'm sure you paid more for the bike than you'd have paid for a stock R model.
I'm considering fitting a dry clutch to the NSR (or two) I'm putting togeather with a view to selling in the spring, though not being a con man, I'll be honest about what I'm selling. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

Oh no, don't get me wrong I love the dry clutch. It let's all my friends know the traffic light is about to turn green I'm just still a bit confused about what the previous owner did to it. It's also missing the clutch cover (you can see the plate and bolts). But a mechanic said this won't really be a problem as long as the fairing stays on. True?
Should I be glum that it's "just" an R model? Don't want to start a war just want to see what the consensus is...
I don't know much about R vs SE, thought it is part of the serial number on the frame like other Honda RC30, RC31, etc
I have a dry clutch on my Ducati, it has an open cover but it provides some protection so my boot does not get shredded if I'm not paying attention. Never seen dry clutch on NSR (my NSR is the first MC18 I ever seen) so I can't say weather it needs a cover or not, if it does not stick out it's not a problem. On Duc's its common issue that with a CF or some other flimsy cover when bike gets dropped with engine running clutch springs get smashed and brake the posts out of the basket.
No reason why an "R" can't have a dry clutch fitted, but also no reason why an SE/SP couldn't have been fitted with an "R" shock if the SE/SP shock colapsed or was damaged in some way.
If you've got an "R" with a dry clutch, look at it as a bonus. If you've got an SE with "R" (front and/or rear) suspension, then it's something you'll just have to live with! Nothing to stop you sourcing the SP parts on Yahoo! and fitting them... they're direct replacements for "R" parts. _________________ Andy.
