A Bit Rich

Fri Aug 10, 2012 1:15 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,

My NSR has always run a bit rich and it's time to get it sorted but having only recently moved to the Peterborough area I'm not really sure who to use to get my bike set up properly.

I want it run up on a dyno to fill the flatspot in the midrange.

Anyone on here in the Peterborough area that can recommend someone with the experience and skill needed to get the job done?

Thanks,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

It appears standard. Standard pipes and cans but I'm not convinced it wasn't jetted for different pipes and cans when it was imported.

Dave.

Have you had the carbs apart to check the jet sizes?

No mate. My problem is I have very little time available due to my job and I'm not sure I really fancy pulling "my baby" apart!

In my opinion when it was imported the dealer put standard pipes back on it but I don't believe they rejetted to suit.

Dave.

Ah gotcha.

I can't recommend anyone in that area I'm afraid. The only guy I can recommend is Stephen, simply because he's the only guy who's worked on my NSR...

Hi,

I bought mine from Spencer at Bridge Moto. Bike was pretty much as I was advised but just runs rich, as hell, and is boggy in the midrange.

As nobody in my area seems knowledgeable I'm gonna investigate the issue when I've got some time off in a few weeks.

Gonna check the 2 stroke oil first to make sure it's not feeding too much oil and then maybe pull the carbs apart.

Dave.

They tend to be a little rich as standard, but should be totally rideable, taking full throttle from 3000rpm. They are by far the most flexible 250 2-stroke on the market.

The standard carb specs are in the technical section of the main site. Make sure the air filter is clean, and the oil pump adjusted properly.
