Raising MC18 r2j race bike problems

Sat Dec 22, 2018 2:24 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey NSR junkies
Raising my MC18 r2j problems

I've jacked up the rear with the hrc plates, stiffened the front & the bike feels good.
I knew the chain would rub the front rubber/ swingarm and it did.
I only did 2 sessions as it was flogging out fairly quick.
I was going to make up some linkage plates a little less aggressive and probably drop the front a bit.
Massive problem is I can't hold as much corner speed and the belly pan scrapes!!

Any ideas on raising the r2j with out fouling the front of the swingarm. I want to get it up 35 to 40mm in the rear from stock.

I've had a look at putting a mc21 swingarm on but someone will probably have a cry because it's not period 6 (before 1990) for historic racing in Australia.

Any ideas?

thanks legends
Chris

Why not up the spring rates front and rear to maintain height then soften the compression damping and stiffen rebound to compensate?

At the moment I've got emulators in the front as ive got no comp or reb
I've made some more linkage plates raising it about 20mm, standard shocks got no comp or rebound either.
I have got a F3 600 shock on the way so that should give me some comp & rebound

good advice tho mate, cheers

Chris
