I used lots of Silicone sealant, and it held firm on mine - though I didn't crash on it!

I've personally never seen a wrecked NSR engine casing from a crash - why bother?!

The NSR motor in race trim (i.e. sans oil pump/airbox etc.) is a work of art! Why spoil it? Confused

Between my son and me, we have 5 crashes, never done any harm to the engine.
Fairing, footpegs, levers, handlebar and one time after a highside: top of tank and top of upper tripple clamp!

Aye sir, and the top of his helmet and then he landed on his bum, so he tried to stand up for 6 hours driving home in a Citroen Sedan! And couldn't sit for another two days. Other than that, he was fine Very Happy

The NSR engine is very slim, and since both side cases are plastic, sticking some armour to them probably won't help. (The armour was on my NC30)

I too found the fairing took th brunt of any damage, and the engine remained safe within...

I've seen lots of NSR engines in crashed bikes with the water pump spigot smashed off, or cracked. possibly something to do with the Japs having low kerbing on their roads of something.....dunno.

Personally I've thrown the NSR down the road a plenty, and I've never done any real damage to the engine. I sent one spinning end over end over the tyre wall and the engine didn't have a scratch.......needed a new frame though.....oh, and bent a set of F3 forks and bent the proarm and bent the RS250 rear wheel and snapped the carbon handlebars and, and, and ......

Engine was fine though.

Boss wasn't amused Embarassed
