Seems I have evidence of an oil leak showing on the clutch cover grills and frame. Bugger.
Is this gonna be a crank case split job?
And is it most likely to be one of these two seals?:
26 91204-KV3-841 Oil seal 69x84x8 (ally)
27 91207-KV3-781 Oil seal 28x40x8 (ally)
(as shown on the clutch parts page for an SP)
Whilst I'm looking, it seems there is an error on the page, as item 24 looks like a seal yet is described as the ball bearing, and item 28 is listed as a seal. Is it just me? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

It'll be the seal behind the clutch basket. It only involves taking the right hand engine cover off, after removing the clutch basket of course. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Ah cool not so drastic then. Don't suppose you can confirm which of those seals it is can you? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

This happend to me and I too changed the big oil seal only to find the problem returned.
It turned out to be an O ring on the shaft behind the crankcase cover. I did all the work with the motor still in the frame and only had to remove the cover behind the clutch to get to the 50p O ring. My incompetence cost me a new a new gasket as the kickstart assembly comes off too.
No problems since and I think this O ring failure is rare. _________________ if it had a tail - it would wag
Thanks for the heads up. Think I'll order the lot and do them all, that way I'll be sure to have everything covered. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

i think this will be the best... Small cost compare to big relief...Dave pay also attention to the washer that goes in the water pump shaft... Don't forget to place it back in its position...
Hmmm, first hurdle, who's got a tool for holding the clutch so I can remove the nut? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Dave,
A pneumatic impact wrench is the easiest way to take the nut off. I'm sure you could borrow one if you don't have your own. No need for fancy special tools for this one.
Deon
So I'm guessing I don't need to remove the side cover from the motor? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

If you've managed to prise the seal out then there is no reason to remove the engine cover. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
As for torque, I'll just use the same tool to clatter it back on till the thing lines up where it came from! _________________ MC21SP Plaything
