Hi, fiddling with the power valves via the setting procedure on here and noticed that my servo doesnt go to the high position even with the cables slackened off. Is this normal . And no i still haven t got it running right yet.
1. IGN on
2. RUN switch to RUN
3. IGN off
4. RUN switch to OFF
5. Disconnect TPS
6. IGN on
7. RUN switch to RUN (listen and watch servo closely!)
Does the RC Valve servo move?
If it doesn't you need to test the servo, the wiring, or your PGM on another bike! (It's not wise to test a working PGM on yours in case the servo or a short has blown it.)
A full fault-finding procedure is in the English Workshop Manual. _________________ Andy.

The servo on both my mc21`s dont go to the high mark i don`t think they are suppose to . The hrc method of doing them is to rev to 11000 i think and mark the servo when open .I think mine are about 3/4 to the high mark
hrc method does infact say >10000 rpms, however the easy way is to blip the throttle no more than 4k rpm's, and mark the highest point. youll notice it moves around a bit trying to keep the engine running _________________
Yes the servo moves and goes to about the three quarter distance which seems to be fine going by the replies. Have been having problems with it oiling plugs, their black as yer boot. Thing is i cant depend on it taking me far enough out of town to plug chop it without it breaking down. Runs rough between about 5 to 7 or so then pulls a lot better to the red line though not perfect. The novelty of pushing it from the bottom of a half a mile long steep hill wore of a while ago and as much as i love the thing its on thin ice..
Air filter clean
Oil pump set correctly
Jetting
Correct spark plugs
If it's proving difficult, I've often set them back to totally standard (inc wire-splice) and gone from there. A stock NSR carburetes perfectly across the entire rev-range, so if it's all stock and still won't work you know you have bigger problems. _________________ Andy.

It won't reset to Lo unless you disconnect the TPS or until the engine runs again... and won't reset if the PGM is knackered, or the cables are set up/adjusted incorrectly, or if the servo's dead...!
Not giving much to go on, are you?! _________________ Andy.

when i turn the servo manually with the ignition is off and switch it back on, it sets to the low position. and when i start it and rev the bike it tries to turns past the low position and hits the stop when it should be moving towards the hi position. i have changed the servo, servo control unit and cdi. the only unit/box that i have not changed is on the opposite side to the cdi unit, it also plugs into the servo control unit.
it could be that unit that is broken but i dont know what it is?
i couldnt find it on my wiring diagram.
Haven't got the cables swapped over have you? _________________ MC21SP Plaything
