Yes, I think Langcourt seem to be the biggest, diffrent people say diffrent things about them, but seems generally positive, I haven't used them myself so cant say either way for sure.

Suggest you contact Andy at GT Motorcycles. I'm sure this is a service they can offer at a reasonable price.

Make sure to specify whether the top an bottom surfaces should be "cleaned" or not. In the past, some companies have taken material off here and in that way changed the height of the cylinder and the compression ratio. Especially if it's been done several time, you might have to have special bottom gaskets made or use 2, to maintain the standard compression but the in- and out port will still have a slightly different timing.

It's always wise to check deck height and squish after a re-plate, but I've never had a problem. Perhaps one of the surfaces was damaged on yours?

The biggest issue I've seen is threads starting to strip out on barrels that have been plated a few times. Acid is used to dissolve the old chrome, which obviously also dissolves a small amount of the aluminium.

We've seen plenty of "short" barrels, with 2+ stamps from re-platers. I agree with Poul, as the front cylinder is especially sensitive to compression changes/detonation.

Yes, it is a service we offer, although it's probably not the most economic solution unless we're providing a complete motor rebuild.

As a company, we probably/possibly get a more flexible service from the [various] re-platers we use, but we do have overheads and of course have to charge for our services.

Thank you sincerely for the referral though. Smile
