I just got my mc18 delivered today! woohoo so excited right? Then here are things that I did:
1. Put 2t oil in it making sure it's full.
2. I turned on the choke and started the bike, bike started with like 5 kicks.
3. forgot to turn off the choke off...Ran 5 miles to the gas station and got the premium gas filled in the tank.
4. Kick start easily. Ran to liquor store. I think the choke was still on at this point.
5. 10 minutes later, kick start won't work. A few push start it worked. Ran for 5 miles home.
6. 5 hours later, kick start worked again. Ran 8 miles.
7. 20 minutes later, kick start won't work. Push start worked. Ran 8miles home.
8. 2 hours later, kick start won't work. Push start worked.
9. Ran on the highway 75m/h for 10 miles. When it slowed down to local from 5th to 2nd with low rpm(clutch pulled), engined stopped.(didn't sound like seize)
10. At this point, neither kickstart nor push start would work.
11. Waited 30 minutes, kick start worked again. Push start wouldn't work. However, bike idled for 1 minute then shut down.
12. Waited 1 hour, pulled fuel to off, kick start worked again.
13. Back on the local with some high rpms at 1st and 2nd for 10-20 minutes, engine stopped again.
14. Fuel back to reserve, kick start worked immediately, ran for 1 minute, engine stopped.
15. Kick started the bike on reserve, ran for 2 miles, engine stopped again.
16. Kick start wouldn't work. Pull the bike home and drank 3 bottles of coke(Coca Cola!) to end the day.
Guys, what do you think the problem is? Carburetor? Plugs? I had someone did the plugs and pistons for me right before delivery as well as a top end rebuild(changed a few seals, but not the center seal).
By the way how do you guys upload images of the bike? I've tried jpg and jpeg and both seems over 256kb which is the maximum size allowed.
Just a long shot, have a look at the filter on the petrol tap, means draining the tank and removing the tap, has the bike been stood a long time, check the inside of the tank for cleanliness, does sound like it could be a fuel related problem, does it run nice and clean when it is running ?. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto

At first I think it was running fine. But after the kick start issue it then didn’t run 100% I think...but I could be wrong..

Maybe I should get fuel treatment? Any specific one for nsr?
Also, if I want to change the plugs, do you know where to get parts?
Start with the simple stuff as the others have said , check that it’s getting fuel, and the filter isn’t blocked. Pull the plugs and check their colour/ condition. I’d also check the tank breather isn’t blocked too.
Start with the easy stuff... fuel, air and spark.
Hopefully the spark plugs will give you an indication of whats going on...if I had to place a bet I would put money on it being fuel starvation.
So... tank breather, fuel filter on the tap and carburettor bank, open up the carb bowls and inspect.
If I read right the bike seems to run better with the choke applied, so maybe fuel.

To add an image you need to resize I go just below 230K by reducing the dimensions, then simply click add attachment before you submit.

Good Luck!
I checked with a local technician and it seems like one of the cylinder died, like one of the exhaust pipes barely has any smoke out(and it's code smoke).
We're definitely checking the carburetor and plugs too. I will let the technician know that we should probably check tank breather and fuel filter.
By the way, do you guys use fuel treatment? Is there anything specific for 2t?

Thanks for the info. Fuel was definitely good. We found that when we put fuel to ON then one of the exhaust pipes barely had any smoke(and it's cold).
Definitely checking the plugs and carburetor, and yes I'll let him know that we should check tank breather too.

You might be lucky, this could just be a fouled spark plug on the one cylinder 🤞
I don't use any fuel additives, I use a good quality unleaded pump fuel with the lowest possible ethanol content - Esso Synthesis + over here but do some research and find out what gas suits your bike best.
