Well after the top cylinder seizing again destroying the newly repaired bore I sent it off to langcourt again and they called this morning to say it’s too far gone to repair so that’s definitely it for this bike. If anyone has a decent cylinder to sell me let me know but I know it’s a long shot.
Sorry to hear about your problems with my old Cup Noodle ,Zeus, strangely i had no problems with it, everything seem to go wrong after i sold it, particlarly in the hands of mike who purchased it off me. Hope you get it sorted, all the best with it. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
Today ive stripped and checked the front cylinder, it’s all fine but I’ve put new rings on just for good measure and rebuilt it. I also stripped the intakes down to check the reeds. No gaskets fitted and about a full tube of three bond by the looks of it, so much it had ran down on to the reed blocks and reeds. All cleaned up (eventually) and refitted with new gaskets.
Just need a top cylinder now and I’ll be ready to go (again) .
Another £1200 and two replacement cylinders later it’s back together and running, first heat cycle is done with no problems but that’s it I won’t ride it again and it’s for sale if anyone is interested.

You will crack - with the warmth of the sun on your back and the allure of the open road in front of you it will be too much for a mere mortal to resist
A sneaky short ride, followed by a slightly longer one and before you know it you’ve covered almost 500 miles 🤣
I rebuilt mine to be a show pony but have now done close to 2k KM on it and the first show my first VJMC show and shine event isn’t until the end of July _________________ Nick
The ride out with the sun on my back is fine it’s the pushing it home with a seized engine I don’t like! 😂
We’ll see.
Staring at the last two knackered pistons again they have been hot when they failed so I’ve richend the mixture up even though the plugs have always looked the right colour.
I think it would be worth a trip to SPA Motorcycles to get Rob Pemberton to have a look. He always recommends Shell super. I try to use Shell or BP premium fuel. It could also be worth checking the oil pump as well. I've got a spare reliable one you could try. It was on my bike and only changed for a shiny new one 🙂 _________________ Why do things simply when you can complicate them
Thanks Rob, I always used Esso super until the station near me changed to Texaco but I always use shell super now. Oil pump is definitely working and if anything I have it running very slightly too oily. Thanks again for the offer.
It’s all ready to go but I can’t afford to ride it this year so maybe I’ll come back to it next year if I still have it.
Today I rode it for the first time since the rebuild last year, one mile to the mot station and one mile back and it didn’t blow up! It’s back into storage now though.
In other news I’ve just found a spare petrol tank for it after looking for the last 3 years, a few dents which I’ve pulled out and it’s not bad for £20. The only other one I’ve seen for sale was £425 and that was dented too!
