hey all,

im going to be travelling next year to teach english overseas, and i was
just wondering what your opinions are for the best asian country to go to for cheap and plentiful cars and motorbikes? i know japan is the obvious choice but i think itll be hard for me to get a visa there, so i was thinking china or thailand? isnt that where tyga is?

Well I can recommend Japan of course. If you're teaching English you'll get paid more in Japan than anywhere else. Much more. Any employer will sortout your visa for you. You can probably even come on a tourist visa and then get a job and your company will 'sponsor' you for your work visa.

Nova is the biggest employer, they are the MacDonalds of the English-teaching world. Pretty much all the westerners here are English teachers (unless you count US military living on ships and bases), so on the web there are going to English teachers galore who can help and advise you.

It's funny, you ask Western (native English speakers) people here what they do and often they'll reply "Oh! I'm a DJ, or a photographer, or a designer". Then ask them if they have any teaching jobs and they might mutter something about a few private lessons on the side ... basically English teachers all of them!
There are quite a few models and head-hunters as well, then a some city workers.

We have loads of english teachers who work here (Thailand)and get good pay at the right schools

The one problem is the motosport sucks, very little and bikes and cars here are very exspensive compared to the real world, and you cant just pop down the shops for parts, nearly all good parts/ bikes are privatly imported.

I should know as I race Supermoto here and its not easy, very little tracks and lots of spares brought from the Uk when i go back and fourth.

Weathers hot though so you will build up a tan.

Yep, Tyga are in Pattaya in Thailand, but if you do go there you'll fail to see daylight most of the time let alone race anything. The place is very cheap, whch is lucky as is there's so much to your spend money on.

Hi Tim, if you live in Australia and want to come to Japan, then think about a WORKING HOLIDAY visa, you can get more info about this from your local Japanese embassy or consulate. The Working Holiday visa is great for 6 months to one year and lets you work as well legally. Employers like them too cause it is less paperwork for them and best of all it is free...but you will need to have a few thousand dollars saved up though...also I believe there might be an age restriction of around 30.....lots of Australians over here working as teachers, bar tenders, at the Expo, and more.

English pays the best for the least amound of work, even I kept a couple of nice paying ones on the side a couple of evenings a week after my day job....need money for the NSR's : - )

A working holiday visa is easy to get but you can only leegally work half-time (but in Japan that'll give you a full-time salary anywhere else).

But a proper work visa is easy if you have got an employer that agrees to sponsor you .. then they do all the work and it's a given. OH! I forgot to mention you have to have a University degree, or it's much harder.

There are also cultural visas thast allow you to work full time but although I know a few people on them they are fairly specific cases (e.g. to learn judo).

There are lots of tracks here and a great foreigner community that races, check out the BBS at http://www.gaijinriders.com ... I hear there are even a couple of companies that manufacture motorcycles here
