Could be a lot of things, but generally, when a PGM fails, it's failed permanently. You might be lucky!

i took it in the shop and found out it wasnt the pgm. The mechanic fitted my bike with another carb and it was running fine after. Then... the next day i started my bike up was going good then it stalled again. I then started it up and from the right silencer it kept misfiring. My headlights work working and my lamps were very dim.. whats wrong with my bike. I just bought it like a month and a half ago and i have gone to the shop several times now atelast 10-15 times now.. can someone identify my problem?
The mechanic was mentioning that he was gonna change the regulator and generator...

Check your battery too. Or maybe your reg/rec is overheating?

You any good with electrics?

Take the seat off, and check the voltage on the battery. It should be about 12.5 volts. No less than 12 anyway. Now start the bike. Once it's running, check the voltage accross the battery. It should be about 14 volts. Less than 13 or more than 15 and it has a problem!

Let us know...

With the kind permission of Electrex USA, their excellent fault finding guide is available in the Workshop... and has been for months! Rolling Eyes

They can do that if the compression is real low... if you've broken a ring for example. I know, it happened to me recently.

It can be so hard to diagnose these things without having the bike in front of you.

Always best to pull the plugs out first. The plugs can tell you a number of things. What condition are the plugs in? If they are black, then the mixture is likely to be crap, and will cause poor running. If one is very dry (with grey aluminium deposits) then it could be a failed piston giving poor compression. Can you get a healthy spark from both plugs? A weak (often pink) spark is going to point to an ignition problem!

So many things it could be I'm afraid.

Pop the plugs out, and pull the exhausts. Look at the condition of the plugs, and up the exhaust ports for any signs of piston damage. After that, it's a case of going through the ignition fault finder in the Workshop I would say.
