The beast survived the track day with ease. 15 min sessions and a running change between , 300 odd kays for the day and barely a hic-up. Awesome handling, brakes and feedback from the GPR 70's made it a great day. Blew away a CBR 600rr under brakes on a couple of occasions just to top it off. Do yourself a favour if you've not ridden on of these DO IT !!!!!
You guys may recall on a previous post I stated the RC valves weren't working . The motor runs OK but the PGM does not supply any power to the servo unit. I suspect that section of the PGM is U/S. I ran the day with the RC valves held fully open with springs, as you can imagine it was interesting coming onto the powerband whilst dragging a peg at 80 MPH!!!
There was also a huge hole in the power between 7 and 8000RPM, but fine above that. I am considering using the dowel method to set the RC's, is this fully or nearly fully open? I think I had them to far open. It only a track bike so I can live without the low end response. Thanks for the help, tell me to go away if I"m rambling.

I take it you've read the only real method is to take the pipes off and set them by feel up the exhaust port?

Yes I have , I guess is was taking the easy way out. Exhaust gaskets are hard to find in Aust. & take a long time to get. I will have to do this as it's the only correct way. I would buy a new servo unit and PGM but cost down here (even from the wreckers/breakers) is outrageous. Thanks again for the help and advice, Andy and yourself do a great job.

P.s did another comp check after the track day 110 (f) 105(r) it must have been sitting for some time as its actually improving.

Could be the rings bedding in properly, and of course the oil has an effect too. You'll get better figures hot aswell since it's all expanded - and that's how it'll be when running.

If head gaskets are easier to get, take the head off instead!

No chance of getting the servo motor fixed then?

I removed the whole unit and disassembled it. The box contains no cogs other that the one on the servo motor shaft! must have had a big - time failure at some time. Checked the servo motor with a stand alone battery and worked fine, both directions. Would appreciate some voltage specs and testing procedure for the plug from the PGM that connects to the servo. I was hesitant to poke around with the multi-meter and fry the PGM or TPS.
If this checks out I'll buy a complete unit and all should be fine.

Ah, your PGM is fried in the servo circuits by the sounds of it.

They can be repaired by a good electronics shop, as there are four transistors that provide the power to the servo which burn out occasionally. Not an easy job, but the only other option is to bin the PGM and fit a new one - if you can find one!

It's not something I've seen done, but I know of others who have...

Do you know how they got the rubbery stuff off the circuit board to check out the damage? would love to know as 1 of my PGM sh*t itself (servo motor wont turn) and yeap I am 100% sure it is electrical.

That stuff is comformal coating, and is generally highly carcinogenic. Do whatever yo do, don't breathe in the fumes or dust!

Methods vary, from grinding it off with a dremel type tool, to burning it off. I've not had a PGM apart so couldn't say for sure. Someone was gonna try and get me one to fix, so I could see what goes wrong and if we can mod them to prevent it happening again. Can't remember who it was now. Any offers from someone with a blown PGM?
