Helloo
Would NF5 heads bolt onto MC21 cylinders?

Cheers

nope.

You could always try fitting NF5 cylinders and heads to an NSR bottom end. That works. You can even use the NSR twin ring pistons. Been there done that. I believe Stephen has also fitted NF top ends, so itmust be easy Laughing

Was looking at an NX5 top end the other day. Yep, a couple of mods and that'd bolt right on Wink

Yep, the pistons will go on there, one way or another. You'd have to sort out the NX cylinder height anyway, so piston height differences aren't a big issue. Just deck it accordingly.

First issue to overcome is the stud pattern differences. NX5 are slightly narrower at the back, so I can see a bit of welding and drilling necessary right from the off, but hey ho.

I'm not gonna do it. I got 2 NX5's so no point Smile

Ere, hang on David. You got a 250, getting a 300 and want an RS250 as well? Youre as bad as me..........almost.

I have got a nice CBR150 in Repsol if you're interested

Matt,I'm not as bad as you. I only have 10 bikes and restrict the ones inside to two rooms.
Cbr150 - isn't that a 4. I couldn't do that. I already have a full size cbr. I finish work on the 14th and will be looking in earnest for a rvf.

I have some technical questions but will ask in another thread; I keep on being rude and interupting others.

Yep, the CBR is a miserable 4T and has less power than something that doesn't have a lot of power. Great bike though if you like that sort of thing.

So anyway, the upshot of the initial question is no, the heads won't bolt on, but the cylinders share the same stud pattern, so will fit the cases.

Remember, that up until the NX5 was released in '93, the NF5 was always just a race developed version of the MC16. Many "sort of" interchangable parts.

For the record, I believe Yamaha went the other way, in that the racer was good so they built a street bike to similar (detuned) spec.
