NSR250SE Performance air filter and reeds recommendations

Tue Jul 15, 2008 7:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

What recommendations do people have for performance air filter element (to fit airbox) and what racing reeds + stuffers and reed cages do people use?
Also where to buy from?
Cheers.

First one is easy enough -- HRC stuffers. Part number in the tuning section.

Air filter elements aren't so easy to come by. Daytona is probably the most popular/well known, but difficult to obtain outside of Japan. You would be better off buying a sheet (is that the correct word?!) of high-flow filter foam from someone like ITG or Pipercross and cutting it to suit. There is an HRC filter foam too, but I don't know the part number.

Never personally seen any proof that one set of reeds is any better than another (except old metal ones vs. fibre ones).

HRC stuffers (or inlet rectifiers to give them their correct name) should be available from Supporting Vendors such as TYGA Performance and Jap4Performance in the UK, and (good) Honda dealers. Supporting Vendors should offer Ti Members a small discount on those parts... let me know if they don't! Wink

Here's a filter from a company called NTB. Can't tell you if it's any good or not as I haven't used it yet but figured I'd throw it out there.

It says high quality filter right on the package so it must be good. Laughing

UNI also makes a sheet of "universal" foam for elements. You cut to fit but its good stuff. I've used this a lot in custom air boxes and filter apps. I personally have Tyga stuffers with HRC reeds.

Got all the parts sorted HRC reeds, stuffers and spacers. Also sourced myself a daytona performance air filter. Does anyone run these air filters? What are they like? Better than stock? Cheers for the info.
