I've just fitted a 300 kit on my NSR and am wondering how to set the oil injector up correctly. According to the diagram on this site there is an index mark on the pulley and an index mark on the body which should align at full throttle.
I'm a bit confused as the pulley has two index marks and an N on it and the oil injector body doesn't really seem to have a mark at all, unless it's the ridge that sticks out somewhat. Either way, aligning the pulley mark which is closest to the end of the pulley means that there is slack in the cable (this is the index pulley mark in the picture I believe), but aligning the one closest to the N seems to work better. Hope what I said makes sense and someone can help.
Btw, there isn't a translated version of the workshop manual available anywhere yet is there? _________________ MC21 Honda NSR250. TYGA 300 conversion.
From memory, my oil pump doesn't accually start turning from the instant the throttle is turned. It lags behind slightly, which indicates a little slack. But the notch lines up with the triangle at full throttle, which is how it is calibrated
Anyone jump in if this info is incorrect. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
yes. i do think what you guys are having is a big problem, if this pump is not set up right you will have a big problem for sure.
And a lot of money to spend on repairs.
As i can remember trying to buy a working pump is that they are different for each model.
So help us to help you what model you are riding please.
I am no expert with this kind of stuff, i just took out the old and put in the new.
People should show up soon with some info or some sort. Remember photos are always nice! _________________ feel the wind

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. Lots of great info to be found.
I am in the middle of cleaning out my carbs and re-adjusting the oil injector cable. What I have noticed is that there are two index notches on the pulley and a "N" at the very end. Even with the cable set as loose as it can go, full throttle still pulls the first index mark well past the pump body index mark (halfway between the first and second index mark to be exact). Short of lengthening the oil injector cable, there is no way I can line up full throttle with the first mark on the pulley. Also with the cable set this loose, the oil injector doesn't start to turn until the slides are about 1/2 way open.
That being said, I can easily line up the second index mark at full throttle.
According to the index marks on the pulley, the injector is about 1/2 open at the first index mark, while the second index mark is wide open. Before I took the carbs off, full throttle was lined up with the second index mark.
Could the info at http://tech.nsr-world.com/nsr/nsr-all/oil-pump/ be incorrect?
That picture is a cleaned up copy of the one in the Honda NSR250 workshop manual. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
The diagram is a scan from the Official Honda Workshop Manual.
It should be pretty obvious which index marks should line up with the thottle wide open... if the pump's not pretty much wide open at WOT, then it's not set correctly!
In very crude terms, the pump pulley should start to move as soon as the throttle grip is twisted, and the pump should be wide open as the slide reaches fully open. Use the marks though, don't guess it! _________________ Andy.

I had the prob that it didn`t have enought adjustment in cable i just pulled on full throtle and bent the cable bracket .Worked fine the right notches will be the ones that line up just of pump full open.
