nsr mc18 gearbox

Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:50 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

hi all,my mc18 all seems to be fine, with this new motor, but i have noticed the slow speed gear changes are abit cloncky/nocky,when i put it in first it seems to nock, and most slow speed gear changes 0-40mph are nocky,my old cbr400rr used to be the same and would get worse as the chain stretched,i am using a 10-40 semi putoline 4 stroke gearbox oil as that is what my local shop have suggested,,,,they said it would be fine and any fully synthetic would cause clutch slip,do i need a 2 stroke gearbox oil,or do you think its some thing else, the bike rides fine but i dont like this nock, the clutch leaver is adjusted so it has 1cm of free play, and this motor has a standerd wet clutch set up,i can get silkoline oil but am not sure what is the best one,,

Hi
I use silkoline light gear oil in 2 stroke gearboxes , not sure if it would make any diffrence though. Have you checked the front sprocket and as you mentioned the chain or rear sprocket ?
