I remember reading somewhere about fitting a honda rs125 shock to the nsr, needing a new spring and a revalve. are there specific years that fit? more specifically theres one on ebay, doesnt state model or year and to be honest i couldnt tell the difference.
Could anyone tell me if this would fit? i would post a link but i think its against forum rules????
It does look very similar to the one you have si, so thats a no go then? im not fussed about moving the battery tray if thats what it takes but it all depends on the length of it compared to the MC18 shock. I like the stance the F3 plates give the bike so ideally would like to keep it that way.
thats a no mate,i was forgetting they dont go on the 18's i will put on the dunce hat and sit in the corner andy _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
No. The link plates form part of a "rising rate" setup, and altering them completely alters the way the suspension works. Not to say you can't make link plates that will work, but it's not just a case of "the shock's 40mm taller, I'll make the plates 20mm shorter". The distance between each of the three holes from the centre of the plate effects all manner of things, as does the length of the "dog bone" that connects to the back of the frame. _________________ Andy.

I am fairly sure (note, not 100%) that there's a CBR600 shock that is of similar length to the MC18, and I think you can get remote a reservoir version too.
A shock that is 20mm taller won't hurt, even with the HRC link plates. That would pretty much be the equivalent of the ride-height adjuster on the HRC shock fully wound out. _________________ Andy.

The cbr6 shocks are around 300mm in length it's a common swap on the NC29 and someone has just fitted an R6 shock which is 290mm and has a piggy back remote, both would work on the 21 but would I think be to long for the 18. _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

A mate and I did a bit of shock stuffing around on the MC21 and vaguely our results were:
The CBR600F3 shock is 10mm(I think!) shorter, the resevoir tube is shorter than the NSR tube, and possibly need to shave 5-10mm off the width of the lower mount.
The CBR600F4i shock mount is the same length with the longer tube, but definitely needs the 5-10mm shaved off the wwidth of the lower mount.
I'll have to dig up our findings to make sure of this.
