Did some searching but didnt turn up anyting useful so decided to post and get some oppinions. On my previous bike a honda VFR I switched out my coils with a set of msd powersport units in an effort to use all the air and fuel my tyga/ HRC parts were feeding the engine. in general i was real happy with the results but sadly i moved on with that project and now i am with my MC21. Has anyone used aftermarket units on these? the reason being is one of the ones i have on it is a scooter coil that came with the bike on purchase. Big bike parts are hard to come by here and spendy to ship in do to customs. I have family coming to visit so that will be my chance to upgrade or go back to stock. here is the link of the unit i am interested in, pro coil 42921.

any input is appreciated
Same here. I found a few problems and started from the top and started downward. I can honestly say that i have never seen so much stuff done wrong half assed and poorly conceived that i have fear for what i will find!
I have a set of I-factory coils, but have yet to mount them. They are not a direct bolt on modification, and require both to be mounted onto the rhs downtube - according to the instructions (the pics are in english). To do this you are supposed to drill a hole or two into the downtube and install some of those threaded plugs/rivets (can't remember what their correct name is). I haven't done this yet because a) I don't have the correct tool to install said rivets, and b) I'm reluctant to go drilling holes in the downtube.
RS250 coils are a bit bigger and have a different plug attachment to the harness than the standard NSR spade connectors (although I recall reading a thread in the not too distant past that Dan/Gecko Racing managed to find the correct plugs from a UK supplier.
I think you'll find they're called "rivnuts", and...
Not quite the same, but...
Honda use these later grey plugs right across its automotive range. This particular one is on a Civic transmission. It shouldn't be hard to track down the correct fitting if you put some imagination into it. _________________ Andy.

well my family showed up and got my coils out installed them. very nice units that come with just about everything you need to mount them. My bike has sat for over a month with out running. gave it fuel and instantly it fired off. just revving it sound crisper so once i get it all together will see if it makes a difference.
