just got a mc 21 frame droped of this moring. the rear tyre is huge! its a 160 is that standard coz i have a mc18 with the 5 spoke wheels and it only has a 140 on it. another question where do the lower fairings mount onto coz the mc16/18 have a little mount under the bike but i couldnt find any holes for one even, do they mount on the sides by stand and opposite. and finally does ayone know if i can run a mc16 motor on the 21 electrics.
Can't remember where the fairing mounts - I think the right is to the bottom of the frame, but I've got a wooden spacer there to keep the plastic clear of the pipe.
Also not sure , but I think if you swap EVERYTHING for the 21 over it'll be ok. Not an expert here though, and you may find certain bits won't fit - like pickups and throttle position sensors. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

nope defo not right, like dave said the NSR like all Honda 400s has a 150 section rear, putting a 160 on wont cause any problems but will slow how quickly your bike drops into bends.....surely the whole point of a 250 _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

Squeezing a 160 tyre onto the rear, or a 120 tyre onto the front, of an NSR will actually lessen the "contact patch" rather than increase it, consequently giving you LESS grip! You will only gain grip psychologically down the pub!
To fit 120/60x17 and 160/60x17 tyres to the NSR you need to fit HRC F3 (effectively HRC RS250) wheels at 3.5" and/or 5.25" (or 5.5") respectively.
A 120 section tyre can also be fitted with some of the USD conversions, most notably the RVF400 NC35 and HRC RS250 USD front-ends as they utilise the wider wheel. _________________ Andy.

Mine had 160 rear too, still feels a hell of a lot faster into corners that my NC30 with the 150 rear. I also have a RS250 HRC wheel _________________ NSR250R MC21 (NEARLY SOLD!!)

Santa, please bring me a NSR500 and a SP-2 next year. Pleeeeease....
That's because it weighs about 30kg less!! Also the 160 section tyre is taller than the 150 and effectively raises the rear ride height, which will increase turn-in.
The larger front tyre is what will cause slower/heavier turn-in if the geometry is not set up to compensate - something most of us could "play" with, but never be able to make any real difference with! _________________ Andy.

So, is it a bad thing to have the 160 on the back of the NSR? _________________ NSR250R MC21 (NEARLY SOLD!!)

Mmmm, nor me! I'll use it for a bit to see how I go, its been right on its edges, so someone has the plums for it! The RS wheel I have is painted ready for use so thats why I'm asking! _________________ NSR250R MC21 (NEARLY SOLD!!)

If you fit the 160 to the RS wheel, then you should be OK. The RS wheel will be either 5.25" or 5.5" and more suited to the 160 as that's a similar size to a 250 slick.
I "think" it will still change the geometry a little though, but the contact patch will be better than squeezing the 160 tyre on a stock 5" rim. _________________ Andy.

That makes sense, maybe now it will have a slightly better contact patch than standard. BTW, do you measure the outside edges of the rim or inside where the tyre sits into? _________________ NSR250R MC21 (NEARLY SOLD!!)
