so i got my forks seals and oil replaced by a local garage.

when i got the bike back it was handling badly and the forks started leaking again.

i then decided to replace the seals myself.

i put 429ml of oil into each fork.

the oil used was a mixture of 10w 40 and 15w 40 to make 12.5w 40.

the seals no longer leak and the bike handles fine at speed, but around town at low speeds the front end feels very slippy.

any suggestions???

Wow, i would have returned the forks yo, its not exactly a cheap or simple operation

If im not mistaken the oil is only gonna affect travel speed. Soft or hard is ofcourse due to spring rate. So, if you want it to slow up, just tighten the lil screw a few notches.

i would have returned forks but when i stripped them there was 450ml of oil in 1 fork and 360ml in the other 1 so i cut my losses and will not deal with this mechanic again.
unfortunately i can only adjust preload with my forks not spring rate.

Hold on a sec, why on earth are you using a multi viscosity oil?

You should be using 10W, not 10W40.
