When i also searched for short plugs before two months,i talked with a NGK dealer in the states and told me that the R5300 series are discontinued from NGK.
R6120 is the old code of R7282 so they are equal.
He told me that if i want short plugs i must buy the R7282 series as these are the only short plugs that NGK produce now,and the only way to find R5300 is from an old stock.
Thats what i remember from my conversesion with a NGK dealer in Ohio.
You maybe change your plans and buy R7282 which are more expensive, except if you know where to find old stock R5300.
R7376 are not shorty.
An awkward difference is that the R7282 doesn't have a gasket like the R5300A, it has a tapered seat.
It also uses a different cap... and they're not cheap either!
:Edit:
Spoken to the NGK supplier again this afternoon (chasing the R5300A's!) and asked about the R7282 while I was at it. They said you need to watch the reach of the R7282... apparently most you'll find for sale are the extended reach type for use with a detonation counter, so the thread is too long! _________________ Andy.

Hi Andy and everyone
The R7282 series have the version for use with detonation counter which they dont have washer and they have this code R7282A-105 if you purchase the normal code without A on the code, they have normal thread as the OEM from NSRīs.
At least my R7282-105 for my NSR have the same thread with the OEM.
Stefanos beat me to it ! To confirm , the A denotes for detonation counter use .
I have 4x new 7282-10's that I would swap for 11's if anyone is keen .
The R5300A-10 is NOT the same. It has always been an R5300A since the beginning of time... and I'm going to stick my neck out and say, "a long before mainstream det counters on 250's".
I may have an NGK Racing replacement for the BR9ECM for those interested though. Samr price to the compact plugs, and the same dimensions as the ECM. Can obviously be used with the standard (or NGK silicone) plug caps though. _________________ Andy.

I dont know and NEVER reported about the A on R5300 plugs.
I know for the A difference of the code only on R7282 series which means that they are antidetonation type (using with detonation counter) and without aluminum washer.
As StephenRC45 said and i didnt knew it,HRC has tricky washer to use them without det counter.
For the racing spark plugs that Andy talked to and are the same dimensions and same caps with the OEM i never did any search for them as the R7282 plugs excist. Andy is any possibility to talk about this NGK code BR10ECMVX ??
I don't know how the standard CDI would respond to an iridium cored plug, and therefore only recommend the BR9ECM. You'd need to speak to someone technical at NGK.
I never trust the word of people that simply say "they run OK in mine", as you don't know what conditions they are running in. The bike could be used for 5 mile runs to the beach and back in 20mph summer traffic for all I know! The system was designed to run on BR9ECM's, and they're a perfectly good plug. _________________ Andy.

NGK have come through and delivered R5300A's, so there are some happy people once again! I will order more this week, to strike while the iron's hot, as they say,
There's no telling how much longer they will be available though, and I can't guarantee delivery times. These plugs have been promised "in a couple of days" for the last couple of weeks! Pre-order them in the Marketplace if you are running them and getting close to needing them!
Only available in 9.5 now, but that's perfect for the NSR really. _________________ Andy.
