pgm-11

Wed Nov 14, 2012 4:49 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I am trying to update the ignition system on my MC18 (frame number MC18- 1010798) it has the large PGM CDI box with what seems like a plastic cover. Thought I update to a pgm-11 which I have also have the wiring loom for pgm-11. I have notice that the two cables with wires in them from the stator and mag have different plug's than the PGM-11 loom, also different number of terminals in the plugs.
will this mean I have to get a later model Mag and stator.???
Also not too sure on the correct age and model of this bike. if somone can tell me from the frame number that be a great help.

88 MC18 has PGM 1
89 MC18 has PGM II (roman 2, not 11)

From what I remember reading it's a bit of a job since you need new stator and flywheel, some modifications required to mount the "mag" as you call it. possibly RC servo?

Stick up a photo for all to see and people can confirm what you have.

An rc servo controls your power valves by opening and closing them based on the signal given to it from the pgm.

ok so the full story:)
i am putting the motor that came out of a NSR250 frame in a super kart frame, well the motor is aready in the kart frame. The bike frame has PGM-CDI unit with wiring harness and i did not want to use the PGM-CDI or harness, as at a later date I will restore the bike and in the meantime have some fun using my super kart with the NSR motor, is that clear so far?. i managed some time ago to aquire a PGM-II and harness and now relize that the harness wont fit the terminals on the motor. so do I need a stator and pickups to fit the PGM-II?. guess i do.
The RC servo terminals/connectors fit the PGM-11 harness so all good there i guess.
TPS sensor connector is different as is the air balance connector.
I would put up some photos but not figuered out how to do that yet on this site.
Any thoughts everyone Smile

From what I remember reading you will have to modify cases to use PGM II stator and pick-ups.

Seems like you will also need to replace solenoids and TPS... would be easier to find another PGM-1 harness or carefully use yours in the cart without hacking it

Νot true

You just need the different flywheel along with the different pickups, you said that you got a complete 1989 wiring, are the pickups missing? Also wherever you bought it the seller had to include both solenoids too as long as you have told him about your mod plans.
