also can anyone tell me (i am sure you can) where i locate the remote res. i know it goes on the right of the bike but where?
cheers all

Give in on the basic settings, but it should mount on a small bracket that screws to the underside of the right hand frame rail. The bracket has a flat section with screw holes, and a curved section that fits the shape of the reservoir. The res is held on by a worm drive clip. If you run your fingers along the underside of the right frame rail you'll feel the holes for mounting it... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

hmmmmm bit of a problem. andy on your suspension page you say fitting the r spring onto the sp shock makes a cheap upgrade, i asume this is better cos the spring is longer meaning when you wind up the pre load you have less chance of it bottoming out, is this easy to do or do you need spring clamps n stuff. also can you advise me on where to start with settings once i have the r spring fitted. i am a bit worried cos i will have no base settings to note down befor i start and i really dont wanna screw my handling up (to much)
cheers for ya help in advance _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

My suggestion would be first to make sure you have the right rate spring for your weight and type of riding. NSR stock springs arer pretty soft, as they were intended for the average Japanese rider. I weigh about 160 and the stock spring was too soft for me. Once you are ready to do setup, I suggest following the tips in the "suspension" link at "Sportrider magazine" website. Basically, start with setting your static sag correctly (approx. 30mm for rear, for street). Then put compression and rebound in the middle of their respective ranges and start experimenting with going harder or softer, one at a time, keeping notes. It's down to personal taste at that point. I hope that helps.

It really isn't something worth paying for - unless your going for total originality!
Basically a flat section with two holes drilled to line up with the frame mountings, then a curved area protruding out towards the fairing with a lip at one end to place the reservoir against. One large circlip / tywrap later and it's done.
Go on, you know you want to beat one out of an old bean can! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Whoa there Monkey! I was an NSR freak long before the NC turned up - the 400 Greybike ain't my lot!
But I am planning on going. Not sure which bike to take though: The NC can get it's ass whupped, but the NSR would be better to bring along and show off. If I took the NSR I wouldn't take it on the track - too precious now it's back in standard trim.
Oh decisions, decisions... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

i know the feeling i am considering buying a track bike (cbr400 all dynod, microned, and maxtoned up) for the track as the thought of damaging my nsr is unbearable.

If I'm in country, the 24th as it's a couple of days before the next race at Pembrey. I'd take the NC in that case.
The August date is just after Keevil, so is also a possible. Money's the issue really, so I may just end up going along with the NSR and not riding the track. Then again... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

i have been monitoring the gb400 site as it appears that the 10th aug date is a 400gb day although anything is welcome but there will be llooaadds of 400s there about 30 already.
the site says it is a virgins day with 2 steady groups and one fast anyone with track experiance will be in the fast group, everybody else in the steady groups.
after looking at the site there are only about 30 places left so guys it your call.
i have already booked the 24th at cadwell but will have to wait until the end of the month to book august, if there are no places left i will come down anyway as a few mates are going on 400s.
oh there is defo 1 other nsr going on the 24th a guy i was talking to on jamies site, who is bringing his 18.
anyone who is there on the 24th great it will be cool to meet you if not see ya on the 10th.
go on do the 24th and the 10th you know you want to..you know it makes sense _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

Ooh I dunno. It's totally standard to look at, other than the Tyga pipes. The shame of a completely standard NSR!
Or should I be proud it's not been monkeyed about with? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

If you check out the diagram of the rear shock on the Online Parts Manual, you will see that the spring comes off from the bottom of the shock.
You will need to compress the spring (a couple of good heavy duty cable ties will do that) and then lift the spring seat up. Underneath the seat is a circlip. Remove the circlip, drop the seat out, and then the spring can be removed.
The diagrams in the Online Parts Manual will often guide you how to assemble/disassemble components - it's just a case of being a little more resourceful!!
