Just found this on an asian bike forum with regards to the NC30 proarm chain adjustment:

no need for special tools, just use any blunt tool like a flat screwdriver and hammer to rotate the eccentric hub to tighten or loosend your chain.

Good job that they're bang up to date. If anyone follows this (expert?) advice with their MC28 then I'll send the boyz round to give you a good slapping Twisted Evil

Why bother adjusting it at all? Just don't lube the chain and the thing will tighten up all on its own!

go buy a spanner wrench and use it on your shock as well as your pro arm adjuster.

As for chain lube and my RS250? Phfft... I replace them before the crap that comes on them wears off. Much easier then spraying on some lube that's going to fling off and then needing to clean my rims couple times a day.

Bodges to get you going

Fri Jul 13, 2007 1:37 am » Post: #13 » Download Post

Riding home from work many moons ago on my RD200, the gear linkage broke. Now, I don't know if any of you know the road between Saunderton and Wendover in Bucks, but it's pretty uninhabited, especially 20 years ago at 9pm.

I had to stop by the side of the road and hunt around for materials. I ended up with a coule of sticks wedged in the linkage, and some rotten bailing string holding it together. Worked a treat and got me the half a dozen or so miles home Razz

When fixing the thing properly (weeks later!) I actually found a Yamaha part number on the sticks, and the bailing string was RC Sugo.......possibly!

When I bust my gear linkage I was halfway up one of the steepest hils in London, with rush hour traffic backin up behind me, stuck in 2nd gear. I thought finding an elastic band in my pocket was a stroke of luck, and fitting it one handed took the skill of a genius. The whole proceedure was undertaken whilst not letting go of the clutch. You see I didn't want to have to bump start it again as it was a pig to do first time round.

BTW Andy did you ever get round to changing that elastic band??? I think it was on there for 6months before I sold the bike to you!! Embarassed
