hello, welcome. all depends on what you want from a bike the 28 is dogs wotsits, but a nice 21 is as fast and good in corners. 28's are expensive for a good one 21's no so. best of luck, worth the wait for a 28 if thats what you want! they dont come up very often, 21's every now and then a nice one will pop up, 1600 will get you a mint SE maybe even a SP 2.5K + for a nice 28

Shocked WWHHAATT Exclamation Exclamation

personally i would say that the 21 is the better bike, its lighter, faster and easier to deristrict. the only real differences between the 21 and 28 is the smartcard ignition (the reason its so hard to deristrict) and the proarm (bit dated now, how long ago was the last SS swingarm released).

any 28 is going to cost you over 2K and that would be for a ratty R if you want an SE or SP you are looking at 3-5k.

21s are more common i sold my R for £1200 and it wasnt mint so for a really good R you should look to pay about 1.5K SE - 2K SP -2.5K

good luck.

Get an MC28 if you can

Fri Dec 23, 2005 11:57 am » Post: #7 » Download Post

MC21's and 28's...well I'm new to 'em but to have a quick rant:

The MC21 is like 6 Kg lighter than the MC28 - I can poo more than that (well...maybe not!).

The MC28 Single side swinger looks the bollox.

The MC28 credit card ignition is just trick and makes the bike all the more exclusive.

Not sure why the 21 is faster, that would surely depend on who is riding it and what the state of tune is (see you at Donnington CheekyMonkey Very Happy friendly fighting talk Cool ) - I thought the stock engines were the same ?

I've not had my MC28SP long but it is the absolute dogs, mine wasn't cheap - £3,000 eeeeek, but it is a genuine, mint, original Repsol MC28SP (1 of only ~1000 bikes) with only 11,000 Kms on the clock.

I think MC21 or MC28 is down to personal choice, mainly regarding the preferred rear end, but as RC46 said - the MC28 is the later model and so may be more desirable to the average prosopective owner.

The MC28 Single side swinger looks the bollox. yup if you like that outdated mid 90s enduro look

The MC28 credit card ignition is just trick and makes the bike all the more exclusive. and makes it a pain to deristrict, no neutral or sidestand light anyone?

Not sure why the 21 is faster, that would surely depend on who is riding it and what the state of tune is (see you at Donnington CheekyMonkey Very Happy friendly fighting talk Cool ) no worries i will whoop you on my overweight and underpowered 55ish BHP diesle 400 Shocked

- I thought the stock engines were the same ? well different flywheel and barrels for a start.
.

all in good jest Very Happy

Hey CheekyMonkey - I like the cut of your jib - you scoundrel.

In the words of Mr T - I pity the fool who buys an MC21, I ain't gettin' on no MC21.

My MC28 does have a neutral indicator, but it is on the DIGITAL DISPLAY rather than a primitive indicator light - oh sorry you don't have digital dash do you. LOVL Razz

And the sidestand doesn't need a light, it automatically retracts when you pull away with a noise like the doors on Star Trek (honest).

MC28's are top bikes, and SP's ROCK (I'd like to insert your moshing emoticon here but don't know where you got it).

Merry Xmas... Twisted Evil

A sidestand dragging across tarmac doesn't count! Laughing

I'm sure Furio finds your married couple squabbling amusing, but his most important question was whether he should buy a 4 stroke 400. If you can put your toys back in the pram, can you answer that for him instead? Wink

45bhp is really easy to overcome on the MC28 if you know what you are doing. Heck, just look at Tyga's site and see what they did, WITHOUT an HRC keycard! How is that so much more expensive to do than an MC21? And from what I have seen, there is almost no difference at all in the MC21/28 barrels, except the 21 has thicker exhaust valves.

There are a few including myself who are pushing nearly 70hp with our 28's, and not with a 300 kit!

if you want pretty much %100 reliability and a bit of a bland uninteresting bike buy a 400

if you want the exhilerating (sp?) and enjoyable buzz of the 2T powerband the smell of the oil and the joy of its first crackle when you kick it over and everything else that goes with 2T ownership.....buy the best bike in the world the NSR250 MC21 Very Happy
