After 3 months of agony, and stress my MC21 project is finally finished.
I Got the bike really cheap but with blind eyes, fortunately the engine was good only the carbs and electrics were mess. I end up spending 500 quid on the electrics, carb recondition, bits and pieces to make the original form.
The bike had MC18 electrics and PGMII that i have to replace with PGM3. as well as speedo meter. Carbs where striped and went for 140 size jets and airbox mod.
Bike now is staring but really difficult as i need to fine tune the slow run adjustment screw. (any help here?)
Testing the bike on the road is really good power delivery and suspension is really good as well. I was lucky enough to get the bike with full tyga ss type exhaust as well. The only thing i have to replace now is the alternator pickups and flywheel as the previus owner changed to MC18 to fit the MC18 loom
ps: Want to apologize for my bad english
Here are some photos before and after almost all the project job.
Looks sweet.
As regards the carb setting to help it start, put everything else back to std (140 mains sounds OK) inc the 21 flywheel etc and it should be fine, mine (and Billys old SP) both can be started with your hand on the kickstart easily, there's a bit of a knack to getting the piston in the right place, try and feel it, there's a spot just after the kickstart is hardest to push, that's the place to give it a couple of decent pushes/kicks and it should go.
Choke on if it's cold (the engine, not the air) otherwise no choke and don't even think of touching the throttle until it's running.
Make sure the battery has decent charge. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Forgot mention that with out the help of this forum i would not do this project alone, I had no idea about NSR internals before.
This is an example how powerful is to use the knowledge of others on your benefit. Everything on this project is based on this forum
So a big thanks guys. Yet Another one NSR alive.
as for the starting problem, i believe a big reason is that the bike has an MC18 alternator/flywheel, therefore this ignition layout makes the bike difficult to start. Battery is in top condition and well charged by the charging system though.
That looks fantastic demetris! You've done a great job. I've always loved the Rothmans colours & think they are the best option for standard bodywork. _________________ Warning:

Is the starting problem due to air screw adjustment? I checked compression and niddles and they are ok, Also spark plugs are ok. Is there any other reason on that?
Very nice bike. I love that scheme, it's never goes out of date. _________________ Unforgivness is the poison we drink hoping the other person will die!

Thanks a lot Dexter,
I am confident that is the only one on the island, I went for a ride yesterday and after we parked, ppl were suprised to see it, u guess wasn;t the bike but the rothmans, scheme, they thought was a promotion or something
After removing the in line fuel filter the bike starts from 2nd kick. dont know if it stands but might be another reason the nsr starting problems.
i think is caused by incorrect flow with out pressure meaning that you have to kick more than one time for the carbs to suck the fuel.
just for you to know
James
hello, just check inside your tank, there should be a filter already there. so inline filter isnt required, However if the one in the tank has been removed i recomend you get one quick. Looks nice !!!
