TZ's can't run in Formula 400 though can they? Or be put on the road quite so easily should you feel the need... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

It's made 72bhp in the past if I recall correctly, probably with slightly more on the edge jetting.
They (RS/TZ and bore stroke owners/setup "guru's") can claim what they like but they should bear in mind that they are being beaten on occasions (in DP Open400 for example) by bikes that need nothing more than a horn to get a daylight MOT and make maybe 65bhp.
There was a similar thread recently regarding the claim of an mc28 c/w the standard smartcard making over 60bhp, maybe it did on some dyno somewhere with slightly flimsy horses and an interesting "at the crank, losses through transmission" equation, but not on the same dyno a good mc28 with an HRC card makes 62bhp.
There is much to be made from dressing up bhp figures, 400gaybike is littered with people who've had std 400's setup and got 65bhp, LMAO. They need to be on the same dyno.
TZ on the GT dyno vs the F3
You want to dive in Steve, feel free!
And no Dave, TZ and RS cases are specifically banned.
Carb size has to be from a homologated bike.
Barrels and ignition are free though. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

Geeezzzzz No Steve! That bike has had so much work WHY?
As for BDK im a big supporter! there is hudge diffrence between a shop full of spanner monkeys with a dyno calling them selfs a tunning center, and BDK who are race engineers they work for solutions making and improving parts not just slap on the latest parts!, they tune power boats drag bikes and even the americans come over to them for work...
You guys need to have a look at the unit they use its full of strokers and engines all waiting for work.
Ive seen James re ballance works ducati camshafts as they came from the factory in a so called race ready set up, result was a few more HP,
My NSR had 59 hp on Total traction dyno, (which is just a figure) and after a top end rebuild had 62 hp on BDK's, So there is a diffrence of 3hp for those counting numbers, i guess there guilty of 6hp in every 100 then Bad boys..
moan over!
Back to the F3, Anyone know why steve is selling? sad day! something i would have loved to have owned but its just gona be to much wonga!
Cor, you lot seem to have a right problem with BDK! Except RC46.
65bhp out of a std 400 is a joke. 55bhp is nearer the mark.
117kg is pretty damn good.
As for the horn and daylight MOT question. Why couldn't a bore stroke race bike have a horn put on and done the same thing???
Fair enough about older TZ's etc, i was talking about newer ones. Theres a difference there i know!
As for race track, there is a lot involved in rider skill on the track. Somewhere like Snet the 400's seem to clean up (i believe Dean Dickinson got 4 wins on the weekend) cos i guess the horsepower advantage helps on the long straights but the twisty circuits is a different kettle of fish. Got to get those bore strokes round the corners lol!
I guess everythings for sale at a price, maybe even the RC, eh Steve?
And just realised the F3 makes 70ish bhp on 97 RON unleaded, the RS and TZs were both on pure avgas. The F3 would be good for 73-74 maybe if optimized for avgas...
I don't have a problem with BDK, they charge too much for bits (they would appear to do the old "add VAT to the retail price of parts" trick beloved of garages all over the country) and are far from NSR experts but then again everywhere else is no better.
However that said I'd love to see one of their FZR400's on the dyno back to back with something of known (to us) quantity as someones going to have egg on his face whatever happens which is always amusing.
Now let it lie before someone gets the thread lock out again _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
I think when garages add money to the RRP its just to cover the postage on the items, making the phone call, maybe keeping stock of the items, stuff like that, its easy enough for people to go and buy the bits direct from the dealers if they have the part numbers etc to hand but sometimes it can be easier just to pay the extra couple of quid and let somebody do it for you who's already got the numbers to hand etc.
Trade discounts are pitiful these days and all garages have got to cover costs.
Anyway, back to subject in hand.
Was speaking to Al Armour at the weekend and he said he had been over to BDK to get his bike dynoed as was worried about how fast Dean Dickinsons FZR was and his bike made 64rwhp on their dyno, he had been told that his VJ23 made 74HP!!!!!!!!!! Al said he also got his power curve put up against Deans from the weekend before and it was 83rwhp!!
As for the dyno shootout would that not be a bit pointless cos everyone would be claiming that the 400 was a big bore!!!!
How come you weren't racing at Snetterton Fontyyy?
