I have read that the P-030 card is for all conditions and the P-010 card is for dry conditions...
But which card will deliver more power...? Or the only difference is the power - torque curve but with the same top power or torque...?
The 010 card is for proper leaded race fuel, the 030 is for unleaded pump fuel.
The 010 card has the potential to give the most power but will need avgas or similar and a motor tuned for it. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
OK, so I've got a 010 card that I run unleaded with and always have. So am I doing it all wrong or will it work fine if jetted properly? I have never seen a difference in fuel requirements for each card, only what riding conditions they are made for.
And speaking of cards, I can't believe that in this day and age no one has cracked Honda's code on the card and can make them. _________________ Andre E. Benguerel

If I am correct I know a guy in Japan that he can programme any card... I am not sure 100% but I think he can do it... I think I can find his email if you want it but I don't know if he speaks English...
In theory in 010 card has too much advance for unleaded fuel.
The reason the ignition on the 010 card is advanced over the 030 is the lead in the fuel causes the air/fuel charge to ignite slower.
This doesn't mean you can't run an 010 card on unleaded fuel, doubtless you can, jetting it richer (a rich mixture burns slower) or running less compression will reduce the speed the flame front travels and running a huge squish clearance (thus effectively making the NSR squishless) or retaining the front head will both increase the distance the flame front has to travel. And thus require more advance.
However a guy on a similar spec motor with both advance, compression and squish optimally set for unleaded (re. Andy's 67bhp unleaded fuel, stock ported road bike) will come past you like you've stopped. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Thanks, that all makes sense. My motor is mostly stock; H2 cylinders, KV3H heads, 010 card, no air box - pod filters, 170/175 mains, 40 AJ. It seems to runs pretty well as set up but I have always thought it was a bit rich. I try to run 100 unleaded/premix in it most of the time but have to resort to 92 when I am on the road. I think the 100 helps with the advance of the 010 card. I'd love to get an 030 card but they don't seem to be available anymore. _________________ Andre E. Benguerel

What you'll find is if/when it does denonate it'll still look rich on the plug, you'll be safer with 100 octane as it'll resist detonation better but the problem is not the octane of the fuel, it's that lead in fuel slows down the burn and requires advance.
If you're forced to use 92ron at any time I'd personally use the normal card and just deal with it being foul to ride. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Right but it is the lead in leaded fuel that creates the high octane rating. Either way, slower burn, cooler flame front = needs more advance. Pre-mix is a pain on the road but that is the way the bike was when I bought it. I only have a 010 card with HRC harness so I don't have a lot of choice. I am planning on doing some dyno runs and jetting the bike for both fuel types when I get some spare time. Guess I need to look for a 030 card? _________________ Andre E. Benguerel
