Im using a HRC 030 , during peak rpms.. once it hits 13,500rpm, the stock restriction action kicks in.. any idea whats going on? is it normal to be this way?
won't that just be the rev limiter trying to save the engine from being over revved? _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...
I don't think there is a rev limiter on the HRC card but revving any NSR that far past peak power (which is probably round 11000rpm) is never going to work well. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
yeah fonty! i was having the same idea... that is why i posted this question of the rev limiter.. hmm wonder if anyone's ever encountered .. revving pass the red line is definately not advisable.. but then again , i was trying out my new toy testing its derestriction capabilities! just in a little doubt about the limiter when i reach 13,500rpm,
thanks for the replies mates! would really like to know if anyone's ever had the same problem as mine =)
Fontyyy, my bike still acts as if it has a stock card... besides the bigger spark and horsepower gain feeling, it cuts off at the point when it passes 12,000rpm whoops back 0rpm and up again, kinda getting on my nerves... checked.. not the jetting issues.. as ive already raised jettings 185/190. cant figure it out .. any idea whats causing this rev limiter thingy on 030?
Why are you reving it past 12000rpm? All you're going to do is kill the crank, it's making no power there, even Steve's F3 is past peak there. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
I had the same problem on my race bike. Also HRC030.
The answer : Its two things really.
1. Spark Plugs.
2. Too rich jetting.
Buy yourself some BR10ECMIX plugs and drop a size or two on the mains.
There is nothing wrong with revvvvving your bike to 13.5K Mine also rev's clean to 13.5 since I run the HRC030 card. Just be sure to replace crank every year and pistons after every 3rd meeting with practice in between.

Might not be too bad on a '28, mine made best power at 185/188 and be careful here...we'll upset Andy _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Andy's distracted by all the girls he's meeting at the bars every night.
We can live it up for another couple weeks at least I hear
With the 030 card, full HRC harness, open carbs, HRC full jetting, I was still running 165/170 with no issues.
I would honestly check your plugs, start stepping the jets down a size, recheck and repeat till you get them to a point where the bike will rev yet your not too lean.

Yes do get the jetting right, but I can't see any reason to pin a NSR to 13,500 RPM??? You will be so far past the power peak you might as well ride it with the power valve clamped in the low position
Oh by the way, if Andy is still kicking back in Thailand from when I spoke with him in late Nov (I was coming back, he was going out) - good on ya! Best place to kill an unusually long UK winter, and great scenery to boot _________________ Rich

It's not just the jet numbers that will annoy me, but the fact that some people are happy to subscribe and then have use of an area specifically for jetting discussion. It's not fair on those who pay to allow this kind of discussion to continue in the free area... somewhere where anyone who may not have the feintest idea of what they are doing may read it and then destroy a motor!
As for revving to 13500rpm... get real! Not even an RS makes peak up there. All you are doing is considerably shortening the lifespan of your internal components. A well modified NSR will still only peak around 11,300 and a full-fat F3 peaks around 11,700. Revving beyond 12k is pointless unless you're trying to sound big in front of the chip shop or unless you need that tiny bit of over-rev for a particular section of track or downchange!
The day I see an NSR that needs to be revved that high will be the day I see one back on a GP grid. Even then I expect it would be a 125, NOT a 250!
And further jet figures in this (or any other) thread in the non-members area will see it locked and moved without warning. Just because the scenery round here is fantastic it hasn't made me go soft! _________________ Andy.
