Hi All i'm about to get a mc21 totaly standard including oil pump which 2 stroke oil do you all recomend? i know it's got to be fully synthetic i live in leeds so most oils are avalible there is a motorcross shop 2 minutes from my house is the oils you mix in with petrol ok to use? or does have to be injected oil? also i would imagine using the same oil all the time would be best but i dont know which has been used so as long as it's fully synthetic oil are they ok to mix in the oil tank then i'l use the same all the time
which is best silkolene,motul,putolene,mobil1,etc
thanks in advance

Not sure your going to find a best oil, but if you get any high quality injector safe oil you will be all right. FRom the list you have above, Ive used Motul oil in an injector system with good results. Ive also used Silkolene, Motul and Castrol for pre-mix with good results.

Go with what you can get and get the best quality you can find and you can't go wrong. Just remember to make sure it says that its for injector systems if you are in fact going to run it in your oil tank for the injectors.

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill! Just use any named brand, fully synthetic oil. The MX shop will sell good stuff, and if it's right by you there's no need to worry about switching brands, as you can just pop in there whenever!

On the bottle it will say something like "pre-mix", "injector" or "suitable for pre-mix and injector systems". If in any doubt, just ask the supplier. The labels are often colour coded. Silkolene used to be purple for Pro2 (synthetic injector, years ago when I first used it!), orange for Comp2 (semi synthetic suitable for injector & pre-mix), and yellow for pre-mix. I don't know how it is now though... read the lables, and ask someone!

Of the list you give, personally I would chose the Silkolene and then Motul. I myself only use Rockoil or Castrol. You can mix synthetics (mix brands) if you want, but I don't see why you'd need to, living next to the shop! Just pick one, and stick with it best you can.

Top tip:

Top the oil bottle back up after EVERY ride, and that will ensure you (virtually) never run low and have to go hunting for synthetic! Wink

If you seize it within a week or two it's unlikely to be because of your choice of oil! I bet many have been run on cheap and cheerful mineral oil from the local Caltex (or whatever they have in Japan) without incident for years!

We just have to give them all the help we can, remembering that even the youngest MC28 is now 15 years old and many will naver have seen a second set of rings, let alone a set of new pistons! Confused

I use Motul 710 with my oil pump...seems nice.

I understand worrying about every small detail, I suffer from the mountain molehill condition myself!!

Andy is bang-on as always!
