So I m rebuilding my MC21SE and I want to have the safest setup possible. The only things that will not be stock on the bike will be the splice ECU and a set of JHAs that I recently bought.I will be ordering a cylinder (my lower one has been severly damaged) and I just wanted you guys to share your thoughs on what else should I buy and how to set up the bike so it will be as reliable as possible.I ll use it as a daily driver and for 150km blasts on Sundays.
What do you mean "ordering a cylinder"? Why do you not get yours repaired?
As for the rebuild, as long as you check the jetting for the Jha pipes, then you will have nothing specific to worry about. A couple of MJ sizes either way will normally do it, but you'll have to figure the jetting out for yourself as every bike is different.
Just make sure everything is spotlessly clean upon reassembly, that you use top brand fully synthetic oils, and that you are thorough and methodical when rebuilding the motor. _________________ Andy.

A rule for every engine you do is not to take short cuts and don't be tempted to re-use stuff that looks good but is a consumable.
Gudgeon pin retainer clips, small ends, gaskets and stuff like that.
I worked out that I could have saved about £50 - £100 on tit for tat things on a recent Yam build, things that could but might not definately let go. Being a two stroke, an 'IF' or 'MIGHT' in reliability terms means 'WHEN' and 'WILL'.

Do you think that if I send it away for a repair (I live in Greece ) it would be better ,moneywise?I m a bit concerned about the quality of a repaired cyl vs the quality of a new one .Please enlighten. Where can I have this job done?
You can't beat doing the job yourself Dexter! All it takes is a litttle confidence.
I have been e-mailed by several people who have never turned a spanner on an NSR before and all have successfully performed their own rebuilds by following our guide in the Workshop.
As I already said, cleanliness is the key. Make sure you have EVERYTHING ready before you disassemble the motor - don't start the reassembly then remember you need a pair of base gaskets or something stupid! Study the parts diagrams and even ask on here, people are more than willing to help.
Remember, if you take it to a shop, the likelyhood is they will never have worked on an NSR either! Are we just talking a top-end rebuild here? _________________ Andy.

I would like to do a full rebuild but money is an issue,so I will be going only for the top end, yes.I ve found a set of pistons/rings for 250Euro so I have another 750 for all of the rest parts. Is it enough??
If you can get the barrel repaired, then yes, that kind of money will be more than adequate. If you want a NEW barrel, then you are going to be struggling!
The rest of the top-end parts (gaskets, bearings, pins & clips etc.) should come to no more than about 150 Euro if my quick count-up is correct (probably not - but it certainly won't be 750 Euros!). _________________ Andy.

Likewise I have used Langcourts twice. The second time there was aproblem with the plating round the exhaust but they repaired it quickly and refunded my postage costs.

Dextor I have found that on my NSR250R MC21, CR 125 89' pistons fit and work perfectly and are easier 2 find and cheaper if that's any help.PS don't use second hand gaskets and use form a gasket or automotive silicon when using new gaskets to make sure of a perfect seal. C ya.
