The bike started and ran fine when I bought it less than a month ago. I rode it home placed it in my garage and covered it. When I went to start it last week. I couldn't get the bike started. I couldn't get it kick started or bumb started. there is enough gas in the tank, the petcock and choke were opened, and the run switch was on.
I am using the original card with no wire splice.
The red warning light is on.
and the dash is flashing the word "off".
any help or ideas would be greatly appriciated, I am new to the NSR250 _________________ 03 Duc 999, 93 NC30, 94 MC28
If not, check the voltage, I suspect it is too low for the bike to run. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

"Off" flashing is the run switch on the right hand switch gear FOR DEFINATE.
It says "off" if the run switch is in the off position, "lock" if the steering lock is held on (steering column pressing against the lock), "oil" for low oil, and "err" and a number for problems seeing the powervalve valve servo, throttle position sensor and the like.
So it could be a connection from the plug (it'll be inside a black box with a flip top lid that sit's in front of the power valve servo, it's all under the petrol tank.
Or possibly a faulty switch.
I don't think it can be a fuse, post back if you have no luck or are too scared to get the tank off and I'll whip mine apart, have a check and take a few photos.
See, RGV boys? We can be helpful............. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Something about "should have stuck with an RVF" I think _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Now you see, having a normal (non HRC, F3, blah blah blah) 250 pays dividends here as it just means I have to keep an eye out on ebay for a (nother?) barrel and piston set or two for stock. O.E. Honda plating never rips off, so it's not a hours work for even an amateur barrel swapper like me. It really is a bigger job (and a less frequent one) to swap the spark plugs on an RVF.
I wasn't too keen on doing the top on on the road bike though, it was easy enough to get it all back on but getting it off was a right fiddle, bloody oil pump... _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

I don't know why everyone has this affliction for swapping barrels... well, apart from Steve, who has to!
Just ragged the 21 down 60 miles of dual carriageway to Saltash this afternoon, caned the living daylights out of it to Callington and back (anyone who knows what the F3 goes like will have an idea of how hard I had to work the little old SS motor!), and then ragged it back up the 60 miles in 45 mins... in the rain and dusk with no lights!
I then flicked the kill switch to stop the motor... rather than by expanding a piston into the bore until it was tight enough to stop the crank from spinning! _________________ Andy.

Hey I havnt changed a barrel since.... er.. I went back to a 250!
I only take em off now because I like to re ring things! Anyone have a use to 20 sets of HRC piston rings? _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Thanks for the leads guys. I'll let you know what happens. The bike was not on a charger, so I'll start with putting it on a battery tender for a few hours then see what happens.
or a lot of pushing, swearing, stomping your feet, more pushing a little more swearing still more stomping your feet, a cold beer and then some more pushing.
I have found that just getting a fresh battery saves some of those steps and leaves more time for the cold beer part. _________________ Charles Gallant
Got the bike started. Just charged up the battery a bit and hooked up a battery tender to it. Hope that solves future problems. Thanks for the help. _________________ 03 Duc 999, 93 NC30, 94 MC28
