I know of a MC21 SE thats been sitting in a garage for roughly 10 years after a spill and although the owner hasn't given in to selling it to me yet i feel it won't be long before i get the call so im after some pointers as to what price i should be looking to pay.
I havent seen it yet but going on the condition of the NC30 i recently bought from him which had also been sitting for 12 years after a spill then a full strip and resto will be needed, but thats what im after if im honest. Panels are scrap, the tank is dented/creased, ive no doubt the fork stanchions will need replacing and no doubt the engine will benefit from a full rebuild too.
I know the tank is going to be the hardest part the find but it maybe salvageable yet i wont know till i see it, im not overly concerned on finding OEM panels if i can get the bike cheap enough then i can swallow the cost of a set of silhouette panels to make it a little bit special.
A nice clean 21se is only ever worth about three and a half grand, give or take a couple of hundred either way, so if this ones as rough as you think and your gonna do the work yourself, I would say a grand tops, under that and your in, assuming you can do it all yourself, if not its gonna be expensive. Probably better to chuck a Chinese bodykit on and make a decent track day bike out of it.

If you get it looking really pretty then you could try selling to a specialist in Sheffield. You can find a very expensive example on fleabay, just search on NSR250 highest price first !!!!
Bits aren't cheap not even 2nd hand. Check out the market place for engine parts. If it's a dog like Les says it's worth diddly squat as the amount you spend would never be recouped. Buy it for £1k spend £5k on it and it still wont be worth £6k......
Try Drew (Mori-man) for a clean example from Japan that would probably be good to go with very little work
Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family, Choose a ****ing big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers or you could just buy a someones nightmare of a NSR, and why?
Because it'll either make you more of a man then ever thought possible or leave you a husk of former your self...
I had the figure of a grand in my head so i wasn't far off then, any cheaper will be a bonus but of course this all depends on what its like when i see it. Im not scared of doing the work myself strangely enough i quite enjoy it as to me its part of the fun of owning the bike, id certainly rather buy a project than a good to go bike that no doubt id find issues with and pull apart/spend money on anyway.
As i said panels dont bother me but is there anything with 21's that i will find especially hard to replace? i assume everything is still available for engine rebuilds?

Andy, iam one of your readers, and I aint had no problems with him, and I know several other of your readers who have dealt with him, successfully and had problems which have been resolved. No way was I trying to advertise said dealer, but I do take umbridge to having one of my posts splattered with red writing making me look like a naughty schoolboy. I was just trying to give some advice to someone, about good service I had received. If you havnt, well that's not my fault. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
Les, I always mark my edits in red so a. they are noticed, and b. so they match the site colours! Irrespective of how I make my comments though, someone will always find fault... either too much information, or narked off because I gave no reason! Whatever! If you don't like my moderation, that's not my problem either!
As it is, the edit has been noted, and consequently I expect it's served its purpose. You, and anyone that read the post before, will now be absolutely clear on my position regarding the seller. Frankly, I don't care if others "say" they've had a good experience or not! It wasn't MY experience, despite repeated efforts to rectify the problems (plural!). I personally had an extremely good experience with a vendor in Australia, who then went on to take an awful lot of money off of many disgruntled customers... do you think it would be fair to everyone for me to endorse him, just because of my good experience? My position on this site means I feel I have a certain level of duty to try and ensure readers benefit from my experiences, which means when they (my experiences) differ from someone else's, I should speak out. However, had you recommended a vendor I have no experience with, then I can have no opinion!
The purpose of NSR-WORLD since day one has been to assist readers as effectively as is reasonably possible. Allowing recommendations of a vendor that has previously provided me personally with poor service, even when he knew there was impending national magazine exposure and the opportunity of a deal to advertise/sell in the Marketplace is pretty poor in my book, and I don't want anyone else burnt by basically a stone faced liar! Every opportunity was given, but none was taken. Simple.
So, while you took it to heart that I was standing on your toes, I was in fact both just following my own "normal" editing protocol, and trying explain why! If you'd had to take some of the crap I have over the last 16 years, from total strangers telling you how something they read here has ended up in disaster, or how they've used a vendor who's supplied crap, but won't speak their mind for fear of upsetting them, you too might be a bit sharp sometimes.
It's all very easy when you don't have to try and look after everyone's best interests [as best you can], and can just rattle off what you want, when you want, pretty much without consequence. But from trying to ensure the website, and forum in particular, is written in clear and concise English, to protecting the blissfully ignorant from bad jetting advice, and everything in between, I take the responsibility of being the owner of NSR-WORLD very seriously.
All that said though, your comment/opinion has been noted. It never falls on deaf ears. Feedback, both good and bad, is always taken on board. _________________ Andy.

The text medium is typically a difficult one. There is no "tone of voice" to help make obvious the "flavour" of what is being said.
I (generally) try to be overly diplomatic in the text medium, as things tend to come across more harshly than intended, when read.
Certainly, "saying it like it is", or "calling a spade a spade" without justifying or explaining appropriately, in the text medium, can make people see you as a clueless hater or such-like.
It is certainly better to be Less Vociffer-ous in my opinion.
I apologise in advance for the off-topic post,.... just being a bit cheeky whilst trying to lighten the mood with a touch of humour.
Merry Christmas everybody!

Leslie Ethererington ,any more anti social ranting behaviour like that and you will caned and finish up on detention for a fortnight, but I have to agree with you the kits and service I have had from this person have been spoton,
Obviously the kit Andy got wasn,t up to much,
Everyone reading this all the best over the festive season, and for the newyear ,
jonmac,
I too cant have any complaints for any of the kits I have had, I know there were more issues from various suppliers a few years back.
Andy, did you not get the 'free' plain white kit that you requested from him? Current kits and service cannot be compared to the ones he used to supply when you had the Noodle bike done, they are like chalk and cheese.
Like Andy said though, every one is entitled to their own opinion and what is good value for money.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my reasoning, procedure, and motives, Les.
No Leigh, I never got a set of white bodywork, or the OEM shaped fenders, or any of the other promises I received during, or after the transaction. I got a handful of cut vinyl stickers (which I could've made myseld anyway!) to replace the misspelt ones on the fairings!
It was a catalogue of disasters from beginning to end, which is why I won't accept public forum endorsements, which is tantamount to free advertising. I need to consider the huge worldwide audience that NSR-WORLD reaches, and what it's potentially worth to a seller. I already see traders trying to use the reach of NSR-WORLD, thinking that simply becomming a Carbon Member will cut the mustard (some don't even subscribe! You can't even get a decent ad in the local paper for a tenner!!), when I know some forums out there are charging upwards of US$1200 a year for a banner!
NSR-WORLD, right up until we decided to start Performance Engineering, has largely been non profit. Charles makes a bit from the English manuals (when people aren't ripping them off and trying to sell copies elsewhere!), and both of us have made a little from subscriptions over the last few years, but in reality it's not much more than the server costs we've incurred over the last 12 years between us. Even Performance Engineering has been given its own section to keep it unobtrusive, and we don't litter the forum with touts for business.
This is the main reason for not allowing promotion of auctions (many of those sellers would never consider paying to advertise here or support NSR-WORLD), and why I am hard on "bad" suppliers when they are promoted. "Bad", as I said before, is where I personally have had a bad experience. Basically, you only cross me once, and the whole (NSR) world will know about it!
Provide me and NSR-WORLD readers (and continue to provide) a good service though, and I will support you all day long. Moriwaki Man will testify to that, I am sure. _________________ Andy.
